Happy 4th of July!
This is one of the days in our country when we tend to resort most primitively to traditions. We may not like hot dogs, but for whatever reason we eat one. We may not particularly like to go to baseball games, but we find ourselves craving the 7th inning stretch. Today we celebrate what it means to be in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
There have been many a men and women go to excessive lengths to see the freedom we enjoy on a daily basis go protected. Today we honor these people, the ones who have survived, the ones who are forever changed, and the ones who have passed on. The freedom we enjoy on your behalf is not something we take lightly and acknowledge that this day is celebrated because of the beautiful commitment you gave on our behalf. So thank you.
Celebrate this day as a day to acknowledge family, a day to acknowledge our marriages, and a day to acknowledge that independence is more than a right, it is a privilege.
Strike a match and warm the charcoal - let's celebrate.
